How dare you? The responsibility of child and youth welfare for the implementation of children’s environmental rights

Discussion paper by the Child and Youth Welfare Association – AGJ/German National Committee for Early Childhood Education (DNK)

With this discussion paper, the Child and Youth Welfare Association – AGJ draws attention to the relevance of ecological children's rights and calls for their consistent implementation. On the one hand, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the fact that intact environmental conditions are the basis for the implementation of these are discussed.

On the other hand, the link to the Sustainable Development Goals is examined and their goal of education for sustainable development transferred to the processes in child and youth welfare. From this, the AGJ formulates recommendations for the implementation of ecological children's rights and highlights the role of child and youth welfare. The paper was approved by the AGJ Board of Management on 03./04. December 2020.
