Our Services and Offerings: Conferences and Events, as well as the AGJ’s work in international contexts

Conferences and Events

The AGJ organizes congresses, symposia, AGJ Discussions, and knowledge-sharing dialogues and conferences for both small groups of experts and a broad professional audience. The goals of these events are professional development and the improvement of working conditions in child and youth welfare. AGJ Discussions aim to address current sociopolitical issues and examine their significance for youth welfare practice. The focus is primarily on key economic, social, and political developments that lie outside the realm of child and youth welfare but whose implications significantly affect the tasks and practice of child and youth welfare.

The AGJ’s Work in an International Context

As the German National Committee for Early Childhood Education, the AGJ represents the field of early childhood education within the child and youth welfare system of the Federal Republic of Germany in the World Organization for Early Childhood Education Organisation Mondiale pour I’Éducation Préscolaire (OMEP).

The AGJ is a member of Eurochild - The European Network Promoting the Welfare and Rights of Children and Young People. Taking into account the unique structure of German child and youth welfare services, the AGJ represents common positions within this organization, particularly at the European level.

Through the Internationalen Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Jugendfragen (IAGJ), the AGJ participates in regular expert discussions—focusing particularly on issues related to youth welfare law and family law—with representatives of child and youth welfare services from the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, and, starting with the 2022 meeting, also from Luxembourg.
